ANZ Bank (ASX:ANZ) has appointed former Bank of Ireland executive Ann Weatherton as the company’s new CIO, effective early 2010.

Weatherston was CIO of the Bank of Ireland for four years, and has also served as IT director at Abbey/Santander, as well as in other senior business and technology roles and financial institutions.

Current CIO David Cartwright will stay on to lead ANZ‘s operations and shared services functions, and as COO, ANZ said.

Both Weatherston and Cartwright will have a seat on the 12-member ANZ board.
